Why don’t we start with goal setting straight away?
Many people already know what they want to change — and have often set goals many times before.
What’s usually missing isn’t clarity around the goal, but understanding why those goals haven’t stuck in the past.
In the early stages of coaching, we focus on building awareness around your current lifestyle, habits, routines, energy, and environment. Once that foundation is clear, any goals we set are far more realistic and sustainable.
We slow things down at the start so progress holds later.
Will we still set goals?
Yes — absolutely.
The difference is when and how we set them.
Rather than goals being the starting point, they become a by-product of clarity. Goals are treated as experiments and learning tools, not pressure points or pass/fail tests.
This helps remove self-judgement and makes change feel more achievable.
Why does your first session feel different to other coaching experiences?
Many coaching models move quickly into visioning and action planning.
My approach spends more time upfront helping you understand:
For many clients, this is the first time they feel genuinely understood rather than encouraged to simply “try harder”.
Is this approach only about habits and health behaviours?
Habits are a big part of the work — but they’re not the whole picture.
We also explore:
Habits are most effective when they align with who you are and the life you’re actually living.
What if I just want practical steps, not deep reflection?
That’s completely okay.
Reflection in this process isn’t about overthinking — it’s about reducing friction.
The purpose of awareness is to make practical steps easier, not harder. Most clients find that once they understand themselves better, the practical changes become simpler, clearer, and more realistic.
How is this different from just reading a book or doing a program on my own?
Books and programs can be incredibly helpful — and many clients have already tried them.
Coaching provides:
Most importantly, coaching helps you apply ideas to your real life — not an idealised version of it.
Do I need to be highly motivated to start?
You don’t need to feel motivated every day — motivation naturally rises and falls.
What is important is that you have a genuine desire for something to be better or different in your life.
Coaching works best when change matters to you at some level. I can’t create that importance for you — and I won’t try to convince you to change. That part has to come from you.
My role is to help you:
If the desire for change isn’t there yet, coaching may not be the right step right now — and that’s okay.
Who is this style of coaching best suited for?
This approach tends to resonate most with people who:
If you’re looking for change that fits real life and lasts beyond short bursts of effort, this work is likely a good fit.
Is this the same as therapy, counselling, or medical care?
No. Health & Wellness Coaching is not therapy, counselling, or medical treatment.
I don’t diagnose conditions, treat mental health concerns, or prescribe diets or exercise programs. Coaching focuses on behaviour change, self-awareness, and practical lifestyle support — helping you understand what’s getting in the way of change and design habits that fit your real life.
Where additional support would be helpful, I encourage collaboration with, or referral to, appropriate medical or allied health professionals.
How is this different from casual or short-term coaching?
This is a structured, in-depth coaching process designed for meaningful and lasting change.
We work together regularly, with space between sessions for reflection, habit experimentation, and integration into daily life.
This approach suits people who are ready to engage, not just talk — and who understand that sustainable change takes time, consistency, and support.
Why are sessions held weekly rather than occasionally?
Consistency matters when you’re changing habits and patterns that have often been in place for years.
Weekly sessions allow us to:
Spacing sessions too far apart often leads to loss of clarity and unnecessary resets.
What happens after the first session?
After we establish awareness and direction, coaching becomes progressively more practical and habit-focused.
We design small, meaningful changes that build momentum over time — with regular check-ins, reflection, and adjustment as needed.
Change isn’t forced. It’s built.
If you’re curious but unsure whether this approach is right for you, a short introductory conversation is the best place to start.
